Promoter Bob Arum of Top Rank has said that WBC super featherweight champion Manny Pacquiao will indeed move up in weight to the lightweight limit of 135-pounds. He will challenge WBC lightweight champ David Diaz, also promoted by Top Rank, on June 28 at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas.
On Saturday night in Las Vegas, Pacquiao won a close split-decision over Juan Manuel Marquez to capture the super featherweight title. He suffered a bad cut on his right eyelid. If the cut does not heal in time for the June date, the fight will probably move to a date in July. The fight is expected to land on HBO pay-per-view.
