According to Dong Secuya, editor of Philboxing.com, Manny Pacquiao has done a quick reversal and accepted the previous offer of a 52-48 split for a fight with Ricky Hatton on May 2 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The deal also guarantees Pacquiao $12 million dollars.
Pacquiao's friend and confidant, Rex 'Wakee' Salud, told Secuya that Manny has given his team the green light to accept the offer.
BoxingScene.com received word that Richard Schaefer, CEO for Golden Boy Promotions, has informed several parties that he expects a deal to be finalized shortly.
After an initial 50-50 offer, which Manny turned, the offer went to a 52-48 split in Pacquiao's favor. Pacquiao wanted 60-40 and then brought his demand down to 55-45, which Hatton's team turned down.
By Wednesday night, the fight appeared to be dead in the water as the camps for both fighters were starting to explore other options. Salud informed Secuya that Pacquiao's promoter, Bob Arum of Top Rank, was ecstatic to hear the news.
