Eight division world champion Manny Pacquiao has revealed the target date and venue of his next bout.

The Filipino ring icon has told reporters that he will stage his next fight in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on June 24.

As for who will he will slug it out with, Pacquiao has two names on his list - Danny Garcia and Lucas Matthysse.

The changes of securing Garcia are highly unlikely.

Garcia (34-1, 20 KOs), a former two-division world champ, is coming off a ninth round knockout victory over Brandon Rios from last month in Las Vegas.

"I consider Garcia but there's a high possibility that it will be against Matthysse who is the WBA champion," Pacquiao said.

Matthysse, meanwhile, is the WBA "regular" welterweight world champion.

He was successful in capturing his first title back in January, when he knocked out Thailand's Tewa Kiram to improve his record to 39 wins off 36 KOs and four losses.

If the money is right, Matthysse will fight.

But there are doubts that the investors who approached Pacquiao's handlers will actually come up with the money to stage the event in Malaysia.

Pacquiao, who is also a senator back home in the Philippines, said he still has time to prepare for the fight during their session break. The Senate will adjourn on March 24 and will resume on May 14, then it will again adjourn on June 2.

The 39-year-old Pacquiao lost his WBO welterweight title to Australian Jeff Horn via a controversial unanimous decision in July 2017. He carries a 59 win off 38 KOs and seven losses slate.

They were planning to stage a rematch on a date last November, but those plans fell out after Pacquiao cited conflicts with his work schedule as a senator.

If the bout in Malaysia actually went forward, it would mark the Filipino's first in Asia since beating Chris Algieri in Macao in 2014.
