During a recent episode of The Boxing Truth radio show, Paulie Malignaggi spoke with host Ricardo Lois and special guest co-host Rick Reeno of BoxingScene.com, and expressed his thoughts about the possible fight with WBA junior welterweight champion Amir Khan on May 15. In the last few months, Malignaggi was one of the fighters who was very outspoken with his suspicions about Manny Pacquiao's alleged use of performance enhancing drugs. Pacquiao and Khan are both trained by Freddie Roach at the Wild Card Gym in Hollywood, California.

During the live show, a caller phoned in and asked Malignaggi if he was suspicious about Khan possibly using performance enhancing drugs. While Malignaggi does not think Khan is a dirty fighter, the thought did cross his mind because Khan is a "Wild Card fighter."

Malignaggi is suspicious of Pacquiao and steered back to the days of James Toney, a fighter who in the past had trained under Roach at the Wild Card Gym. Toney tested positive for steroids in 2005 and 2007.

"I would be lying if I told you that I wasn't a little suspicious. I haven't seen enough of Amir Khan to put a judgment on that so to speak. Although if I told you that it didn't cross my mind, I'd by lying to you man," Malignaggi said.

"I was suspicious of Manny Pacquiao because I've seen him and I've seen what he's doing and how he's looking and all that. Having said that, James Toney tested positive for steroids a few years ago and Freddie Roach was his trainer as well.  Manny Pacquiao has never tested positive but if he's not going to take a specific test then he's not going to get caught."

"Having said that, Amir Khan is in the same stable and that's the only reason that I have my suspicions and I'm not saying he's dirty and he's probably not. It's just, it's going to cross my mind for the simple reason that he's got the same team around him. Other than that, I don't suspect Amir Khan of anything. I expect him to train cleanly and come on May 15 prepared to fight. But just because he's part of that stable, how is it not going to cross my mind?"
