IBF junior welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi says he will be physically ready to fight Ricky Hatton in the fall. On Saturday night at the City of Manchester Stadium, Malignaggi won a split-decision over Lovemore Ndou to retain his title. Hatton appeared in the main event and decisioned Juan Lazcano, but took a few lumps during the fight.

Malignaggi initially said that he broke his right hand during the fight. He would later state that it might only be a broken knuckle. He says the knuckle turned him into a one-handed fighter and affected his performance in the fight.

"I didn't fight to the best of my ability," Malignaggi said. "But I'll be ready to fight Ricky in the fall and we'll both be better than tonight and explosive. I don't think Ricky looked at his best either tonight. He was a little bit inconsistent tonight. I've always seen things in Ricky Hatton I can exploit."
