A few days ago, manager/trainer Kevin Cunningham announced on BoxingScene.com that his star pupil, former champion Devon Alexander, was moving up to the welterweight division. Cunningham would like to have Alexander make his welterweight debut against Paulie Malignaggi. Earlier this year, Malignaggi was very critical of Alexander's performance against Timothy Bradley.
"Tell Paula Malignaggi that Devon doesn't lose to fighters who wear skirts in the ring. Tell her that when she steps in the ring that I hope she has a better looking skirt that the one she wore for her last fight," Cunningham said.
Malignaggi, currently on vacation in Sicily, reached out to BoxingScene to issue a response to Alexander and Cunningham.
"Kevin has a lot of balls bringing up me wearing skirts in a fight and trying to broadcast out that I have female traits. Out of the both of us, me and Devon, the one that was showing the most female traits, is the way Devon was screaming and yelling like a little bitch to the doctor, after the paper cut that Tim Bradley gave him. And on top of that, he started yelling even more to get the fight stopped. I don't get stopped on paper cuts," Malignaggi told BoxingScene.com.
"Make sure you act like a man when you fight and show more balls. Act like a man, not like a girl or a sissy. You can make all of the female innuendoes that you want. At the end of the day, my manhood is proven and Devon Alexander's is up in the air. Kevin Cunningham needs to stop being a spokesman for Devon Alexander. If Devon Alexander really was a man, he would stand up for himself instead of hiding behind Kevin Cunningham."
