WBA junior welterweight “regular” champion Marcos Maidana responded to WBO 140-pound boss Tim Bradley’s comments that Top Rank had offered Maidana a fight on this Saturday’s Pacquiao-Marquez undercard only for the Argentine to turn it down.
“Top Rank offered 150K ($150,000) for that fight. So if Bradley thinks I can face him for those peanuts he'll keep dreaming,” Maidana said via Twitter.
Instead of Maidana, Bradley faces former two-weight world champion Joel Casamayor of Cuba in his debut for Top Rank at the welterweight limit.
“We went after Maidana, and Maidana turned it down,” Bradley told Elie Seckbach in a video released yesterday. “And Maidana’s a strong opponent. Joel Casamayor, he was there, and he took the fight, so why not?”
