An old feud ripped open once again, when former world champions Amir Khan and Marcos Maidana had a war of words on the social networks.
The two boxers faced each other back in 2010 in Las Vegas. Khan dropped Maidana in the first round with a vicious body shot and the Argentinean used a lot of will power to get up. Maidana was able to make it a fire fight and had Khan in severe trouble in the championship rounds. Khan was able to withstand Maidana's rally to win a close twelve round unanimous decision.
It's unlikely that we'll ever see a rematch, because Maidana recently announced his retirement from boxing.
Khan has been out of the ring since suffering a vicious knockout at the hands of Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez back in May.
During the war of words, Maidana reminded Khan that he refused to give him a rematch.
"Khan, regardless of my current (happy) weight you always avoided that rematch. You know it. But no hard feelings," Maidana stated.
Khan came firing back, promising to knock Maidana out if a rematch took place.
"First of all I beat you and I will beat you again. I'll knock you out this time. I don't avoid anyone, not my style," Khan said.
Of course, Maidana swung in with a closing comment - reminding Khan of his performance in May.
"You knocking me out? Nobody ever did. Last time I saw you - you were sleeping like a baby on the canvas," Maidana roared back.
