LAS VEGAS --- The Floyd Mayweather-Marcos Maidana fight was extremely close on the judges scorecards and according on CompuBox punch statistics, but Maidana believes he deserved the verdict.
One judge scored it a 114-114 draw, while the other two judges scored it for Mayweather, 117-111 and 116-112.
"I think it was a great fight," Maidana said. "I did everything possible to win. For the judges, I guess it wasn't enough to win the fight. We did everything possible to win this fight."
Maidana threw 858 total punches and connected on 221 for a 26 percent connect rate, while Mayweather threw 426 total punches and connected on 230 for 54 percent connect rate.
"I definitely think I won this fight," Maidana said. "He did dominate some rounds, but the majority I dominated.
"We won tonight."
