At Club Deportivo Libertad in Santa Fe, Argentina, WBA interim-junior welterweight champion Marcos Maidana (27-1, 26KOs) made his first return to the ring since stopping Victor Ortiz in June, and knocked William Gonzalez (22-6-1, 7KOs) out in the third round after dropping him for the full count.
The winner of Amir Khan's upcoming defense of the WBA 140-pound title against undefeated Dmitriy Salita, scheduled for December 5, must face Maidana next.
