Super bantamweight Jessie Magdaleno has withdrawn from his eight round bout on October 25, manager Frank Espinoza confirmed to Boxingscene.com on Wednesday evening.
Magdaleno was scheduled to fight Erik Ruiz in the co-main event of a Top Rank card at the Selland Arena in Fresno, Calif.
According to Espinoza, Magdaleno had to withdraw from the fight due to someone breaking into his Las Vegas home and taking his possessions. Magdaleno traveled to Las Vegas from Indio, Calif., where he has trained for the last year or so with Joel Diaz.
The Magdaleno-Ruiz fight was scheduled to be televised on the Spanish-language network UniMas, along with the main event bout between unbeaten Jose Ramirez (11-0, 8 KOs) and David Rodela (17-9-3, 7 KOs).
Christopher Worstell, who manages Ruiz (13-1, 6 KOs), says the plan is still to have the Oxnard boxer fight on UniMas against a suitable opponent.
Top Rank matchmaker Bruce Trampler told Boxingscene.com on Monday afternoon heavyweight contender Andy Ruiz (22-0, 16 KOs) will fight on the October 25 card. Ruiz is scheduled to fight Kenny Lemos (12-8-2, 8 KOs) in a scheduled eight round bout.
Tickets start at $18 and could be purchased at the Selland Arena box office. The Top Rank fight card is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. local time and UniMas will air the "Solo Boxeo Tecate" fight card at 11 p.m. ET/PT.
