Unbeaten Jessie Magdaleno (22-0, 16KOs) is angling for a shot at current WBO super bantamweight champion Nonito Donaire in 2016. Before that happens the brass at Top Rank wants concrete evidence that Magdaleno - who has had problems with weight in the past - can make the 122-pound limit.
The process will begin on February 13th as he faces Edwin Mansito as the headliner on 'Solo Boxeo' on UniMas. This was confirmed by Top Rank matchmaker, Brad Goodman. This card is scheduled to take place somewhere in the Los Angeles area.
Magdaleno weighed 127.5 for his October fight with Vergel Nebran in Arizona. Magdaleno won by knockout in one round. He was a shade over 123 for his May bout with Raul Hirales.
Also slated to be on this Solo Boxeo card is Arnold Barbosa and highly touted prospects Oleksander Gvozdyk and Egis Kavaliauskas.
