Middleweight Matthew Macklin (28-3, 19KOs) was not too impressed with Sergio Martinez's win last Saturday night in Atlantic City. Macklin sat ringside at the Boardwalk Hall and watched Martinez (48-2-2, 28 KOs) stop previously undefeated Darren Barker in eleven rounds. Martinez, the WBC's Diamond champion at 160-pounds, had some trouble before the stoppage. Macklin and Martinez are both promoted by Lou DiBella and a fight between the two of them is possible for 2012.

"I think I'll beat him. I think I'll be too strong for him. I don't think he hits hard enough to take me out. I think hit hard enough to take him out. My workrate and variety of punches are too much for him. [Lou] DiBella promotes both of us. I beat [Felix] Sturm in Germany and was robbed. Most people consider us the two best middleweights in the world, I think it would be a great fight in NYC on St. Patrick's Day," Macklin told BoxingScene.com's Mike Coppinger.
