Former WBO crusierweight champion Enzo Maccarinelli (33-5, 26KOs) believes that he finally found his spot. After spending nearly his entire career at cruiser, he moved down by 25-pounds to the light heavyweight division on November 18th at York Hall in London. After losing four of his last eight fights, by knockout, he crushed previously unbeaten Gyorgy Marosi in 91 seconds.
Macca wants to work his way to a world title shot - a lucrative showdown with WBO champion Nathan Cleverly. Both Maccarinelli and Cleverly are promoted by Frank Warren, so the fight is certainly very possible.
"I should have always been at this weight because I made the weight cut easy," said Maccarinelli to BBC Sport. "I want a world title shot whichever way I get a chance. That performance just scratched the surface of what I can do at light heavy. [Cleverly] would be a massive fight but it's not the next one. Now I want to get back in the ring and fight as quick as possible."
