31-year-old Hank Lundy (25-4-1) is very confident that he will defeat Mauricio Herrera (21-5) on July 11th when they meet at the LA Sports Center in a bout televised by HBO Latino.
Speaking in the third person, Lundy said that a win over the former WBA interim super lightweight title holder should lead him to a shot at a belt.
"I know that once I beat him, Hammerin' Hank should be fighting for a world title," Lundy explained.
All of Herrera's losses have been close and an argument can be made that he should have came out on the winning end of many of those fights. Lundy believes that Herrera has excelled against one dimensional fighters and believes that his arsenal will be too much for the Southern California native.
"If you look at Mauricio Herrera he is mainly in there with punchers you know. He is never in there with a guy - well the last guy was a boxer too but be was slow. At the end of the day what happens when he's in there with a guy who can punch? A guy with blazing hand speed and ring generalship that rules the ring like no other? What is your answer to that?" Lundy asked.
Lundy fired a shot at fellow Philadelphia native Danny Garcia when he said that Herrera is in for a long night if he believes that both fighters are similar in style.
"He is not going to he victorious against Hammerin' Hank. I am going to bring the whole complete package. He says I am just another Philly fighter that I am going to school. I am nowhere near Danny Garcia. I am at a different level. I can box and punch," Lundy told BoxingScene.com.
