After Luis Ortiz (24-0, 21KOs) shattered Bryan Jennings in in seven rounds on December 19th at the Turning Stone Casino Resort in Verona, the Cuban heavyweight remained fairly close to the gym. He advised ringsidefigthingnews.com that on Monday, January 11th, he plans to start preparing for his next fight.

"All heavyweights out there are talking about fights among themselves, and I see that no one is willing to mention my name. In this weight class, they have to first mention the name of Luis Ortiz. I'm here to become the next world champion and in 2016 I'm sure I will be able to reach my goal.

Recently, BoxingScene.com reported that the World Boxing Association has ordered Ortiz to face Russian strongman Alexander Ustinov (33-1-0) on or before the midway point of June. Ortiz is the WBA's interim-heavyweight champion.

We asked Ortiz about potentially facing Ustinov, and he's yet to hear anything about that fight.

"My managers are in charge of these matters. My work comes down to being in the gym and arriving to the fights in the best possible physical condition, " Ortiz said

"I'm ready to fight the best or whoever is available. I have no concrete information about the Ustinov fight. But if it comes up, and my handlers reach an agreement to do it, I have no problems. I am here to fight and if it comes down to Ustinov then that's what we'll see," said Ortiz.
