BoxingScene.com and BoxeoMundial.com joined newly crowned WBA interim heavyweight champion Luis Ortiz and his team at his post-fight victory dinner Saturday night at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, NV.
Ortiz captured the title by blowing out the previously undefeated Lateef Kayode in the first round of their FoxSports televised fight. Ortiz said he was ready to go the distance but wasn't surprised that the fight ended early.
"I wasn't surprised at all. I was ready to go 12 rounds but I got to him early and wa able to finish him," said Ortiz.
While Ortiz was happy with the victory, he isn't going to rest on his laurels. He said that he won't be satisfied until he has a fully recognized heavyweight title.
"I am to get the title but I am only half way to achieving my dream. This was just another guy in my way and I got rid of him like the rest before him. I still have a ways to go to realize my dream," Ortiz stated.
The Cuban said that the best is yet to come and that he is ready to take on all comers in the division.
"I am ready for anyone. I am a gorilla. You still haven't seen the best out of King Kong," Ortiz told BoxingScene.com.
