Former world champion Luis Nery ended the year with another drilling win.
He picked up another victory by technical knockout ,at 1:16 of the seventh round, over a brave Venezuelan Renson "Gato" Robles in what was the stellar fight at the Arena Pavillon del Norte in Saltillo, Coahuila in a promotion by Zanfer in association with Special Events and Azteca 7.
Nery (28-0, 22 KOs) was the boss throughout the fight and on several occasions put Robles (15-4, 7 KOs) in serious trouble, but the boxer who accepted the fight on late notice knew how to weather the storm.
In the seventh round he received a lot of punishment, which forced the referee to stop the fight due to the accumulation of blows.
"We are grateful to God for the year. We will be ready when my promoter Zanfer and Fernando Beltrán tells me the date to go for the bantamweight world title of the World Boxing Council and I will recover what is mine," expressed Nery, 23 years old.
In what was the co-main event, Irma ¨Torbellino¨ García was the winner of a split decision over Isis Vargas in eight rounds in a fight in Gallo weight.
Vargas (6-1, 1 KOs) recovered from a knockdown in the first round after receiving a left from the former world title champion "Torbellino" Garcia (19-4-1, 3 KOs), who dominated many parts of the contest. She fought from a left-handed guard, even though one judge issued a surprising card where he saw her winning by 76-75 and the other two judges gave cards of 79-72, 80-71 for Garcia.
Other results from the capital saw Israel Rodríguez Picazo get a TKO in 5 over Yonathan Padilla, Irving Turrubiartes from Monterrey won by technical knockout at 1:57 over Julio César Guzmán, and Edwin Bahena won a majority decision victory over Brandon Pérez. The cards were 39-37 x2 and 38-38.
