Bantamweight Luis Nery keeps has passed every test of his young career with flying colors.

Nery understands the tests will become more difficult with each passing fight and Saturday night will be no exception.

Nery squares off against former world title challenger Richie Mepranum at the Auditorio Municipal in Tijuana, Baja, California.

The 10 round bout will air on beIN Sports en Espanol, beginning at 11 p.m. ET/ 8 p.m. PT.

Fighting once again in his hometown of Tijuana, the southpaw Nery (20-0, 14 KOs) has progressed rapidly as a pro, defeating modest to above-average competition.

In his last bout on July 30, Nery broke down David Sanchez over four one-sided rounds. Sanchez did not answer the bell for round five, instead remaining on his stool.

Last year, Nery scored impressive knockout wins over Jether Oliva and John Mark Apolinario, both of whom had never been stopped prior to facing Nery.
Nery’s accomplishments thus far as a pro have not gone unnoticed. He is currently ranked number two by the WBC and number six by the WBA.

Mepranum (31-5-1, 8 KOs) is a significant step up in competition for Nery.

In his last bout on Apr. 23, Mepranum was stopped after the eighth round by Carlos Cuadras. The loss snapped a four-bout winning streak.

Originally from Maasim, Sarangani, in the Philippines, Mepranum also lost world title bouts to Julio Cesar Miranda and Juan Francisco Estrada.

Also on the Zanfer Promotions card, flyweight contender Arely Mucino (21-3-2, 10 KOs) squares off against Judith Rodriguez (8-10, 5 KOs) in a 10 round bout.
