Luis "El Artesano" Cruz, who has a record of 17-0 with 14 knockouts, is waiting for his promoters, Miguel Cotto Promotions, to tell him who and where to fight on February 18.
"I spoke with Bryan Perez and told me that contracts are not yet 100% official but the whole picture was positive and that, by mid-week we should have all of the details squared away," he said.
However, it being reported that his rival will be Eloy Perez, with a 19-0-2 mark and five KOs, and the fight will take place at the Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma, Washington.
“But as I have said, I'm not sure about one thing or the other, I'm only training to fight for that date. And I started to at a strong stage of training and in three or four weeks I'll be at full steam. We'll be ready for anything," he said.
He added that the intention of the company is to rise from fourth to second place in the ranks, so he can go for the title owned by Ricky Burns.
"2011 should be the year that I'm going to find a crown and I understand that we have all of the resources to win and bring the belt back to Puerto Rico," he said.
