Bob Arum, CEO of Top Rank, has traveled to Puerto Rico to conduct a press conference on Tuesday at 11am at the Ritz Carlton in Isla Verde. Arum plans to announce the signing of undefeated junior lightweight Luis "El Artesano" Cruz, who is currently promoted by Miguel Cotto's company, Miguel Cotto Promotions. Cotto, the WBA 154-pound champion, is also promoted by Top Rank.
"This Tuesday I'm going to announce my signing with Arum. I have understood that he arrives on Monday. And he will be at the conference providing information about my contract and the plans that Top Rank Promotions and Miguel Cotto have for my career," confirmed Cruz, who is 18-0 with 14 knockouts.
In his last fight, Cruz unanimously outpointed Martin Honorio. The rising contender is said he was fascinated with the idea of belonging to such a big promotional company.
"They are the leader in the boxing industry and they've shown great interest in developing my career and taking it to another level. They are able to do that and more," Cruz said.
