Unbeaten Luis "El Artesano" Cruz, who in all likelihood will take on Juan Carlos Burgos (27-1, 19 KOs) on November 12 for NABO title at 130 pounds, said he expects to fight for a major world title in early 2012. Cruz, 19-0 and 15 knockouts, will be making his second ring outing for Top Rank. Cruz-Burgos is positioned for the pay-per-view undercard which supports the Manny Pacquiao-Juan Manuel Marquez trilogy.
"With God's favor, we will be opening the pay-per-view of [Pacquiao-Marquez] and we are going to train for eight weeks for that fight. We are already working in the gym and we are close to a title shot in 2012. Maybe in the first fight of 2012, it can be in Puerto Rico, for either the IBF and WBO titles. Both sanctioned bodies have expressed interest that I fight for their titles," Cruz said.
