Lucas Matthysse is coming off a big victory over Ruslan Provodnikov on April 18th. Now, the focus is on the future and it just might be a homecoming fight for 'the Machine'.
"So with Lucas," explained Eric Gomez, the V.P. and Matchmaker for Golden Boy Promotions - "There's an offer for him to fight in Argentina and we are waiting to get a resolution from the WBC on what Danny Garcia's going to do with the title. So we're supposed to have a resolution in the next week or so."
Currently, Garcia holds the WBC super lightweight title, with Viktor Postol as the top rated contender, followed by Matthysse at number two. Garcia - who also holds the WBA belt - has not made a defense at 140-pounds since he faced Mauricio Herrera last March.
Regardless, according to Gomez the Argentine puncher "wants to fight in October, so it'll be some time in October."
