Tough contender Lucas Matthysse (37-4, 32KOs) of Argentina is hungry to capture world title in the welterweight division.

Matthysse has been out of the ring since getting knocked out by Viktor Postol last October in Los Angeles, California. Matthysse was hit with a good shot directly on his eye, went down and stayed down for the full count. Afterwards, he said his eye was injured from the punch and he intentionally stayed down because he didn't want to risk the possibility of suffering a long-term injury that would cause him to go blind.

Matthysse said he would like to get "a big fight in March or April before going for a title."

Matthysse says his number one goal is to capture a world title at 147-pounds. He was slated to return in May, on the pay-per-view undercard to Canelo Alvarez vs. Amir Khan, but he withdrew as the issues continued to linger with his eye. He's undergone several tests on his eye and the doctors have cleared him to fight again.

"My ultimate dream is to become a world champion at 147-pounds. That's my goal," said Matthysse. "I underwent medical tests in Junin and I was told my eye is fine, there is no injury. I will go up to welterweight."

"I started running every day and right now I am waiting for news [on my next fight], but for that I'm waiting for (manager Mario) Arano to go back to the United States to find out what we're going to do, but in December we're going to travel over there."

Matthysse revealed that he's parting ways with longtime trainer Lusi 'Cuty' Barrera and hunting for a new trainer, likely from the United States.

"I'm going to try a new team, I have to make a change. I have a great relationship with Luis 'Cuty' Barrera, and that will always remain the same to me," Matthysse said.
