Isaac Lowe has revealed, as previously reported on Boxing Scene, that he is set to travel to Denmark and challenge undefeated Dennis Ceylan for the European featherweight title.
Ceylan is coming off a split decision win against fellow Brit Ryan Walsh, but the Commonwealth champion Lowe –– from Morecambe –– is predicting a far different night for the Danish champion when the pair clash.
Lowe told ‘Scene that the fight is likely to land on the third weekend of March, with the possibility of the Arena Nord in Frederikshavn, where Ceylan won the vacant crown against Lonsdale belt ruler Walsh in October, playing host to their showdown.
“Travelling to Denmark doesn’t bother me in the slightest,” the 22-year-old (13-0-1, 5 KOs) said. “When you get in there everyone has two arms, two legs, a head and a set of balls.
“I’m going to take Dennis Ceylan to a place he’s never been before and knock him out and come back as European champion.”
But ‘The Westgate Warrior’ is not content with winning the EBU crown and wants to win the British too, having been made the mandatory challenger to the aforementioned Cromer man Walsh.
“I’ll go to Denmark, knock Ceylan out then come back to the UK and knock Ryan Walsh out,” he continued. “[I will] win the British title and then go for a world title and knock out whoever’s got the world title.
“My trainers and management have been excellent, I can’t thank them enough and hopefully if I come through my next few fights I’ll be topping bills. That’s my dream.”
Lowe bases his training out of Doncaster and frequently shares a ring with fellow 126-pounder Josh Warrington, who is the WBC International champion and recently inked a promotional deal with Frank Warren after his deal with Eddie Hearn expired and a renewal wasn’t forthcoming.
“Josh has been superb with me,” Lowe told ‘Scene. “He’s really helped me come on a lot. We share the same manager [Steve Wood] who has also been excellent with me so I can’t thank them enough.”
Lowe picked up the Commonwealth title in February, stopping Belfast’s Marco McCullough as part of the undercard to Carl Frampton’s win over Scott Quigg at Manchester Arena, exclusively live on Sky Sports Box Office, and has enjoyed a rapid rise since.
Despite a scheduled contest with former world title challenger Tshifhiwa Munyai falling through due to a logistical error from Munyai’s team, which Lowe was naturally displeased about, the Morecambe man remains optimistic about the year ahead.
“To fight a six-rounder after training for months ahead of the Munyai fight was a massive kick in the balls, but I’m looking forward to 2017.
“I’d love to share a bill with Josh Warrington in Leeds as I train close to there and I’d also love to box in Morecambe too as that’s where I’m from.
“We [Josh and I] started together and hopefully I can do what he’s done and we can both go on to fight for and hopefully win world titles.”
