Promising 21 year old Silvester “Silver” Lopez gets a crack at the vacant WBC International super flyweight title when he battles undefeated South Korean Jong Nam Park at the Elorde Sports Center on March 21.
Lopez has a record of 8-2-1 with 5 knockouts while Park is undefeated with a 6-0 card including 5 knockouts.
It will be the first time the Korean will be fighting abroad but is reportedly eagerly awaiting the opportunity to win international recognition.
The young Lopez won all his four fights last year beginning with a 2nd round TKO over Romnick Rapista on May 3 followed up by an 8th round unanimous decision over Rene Nival on September 7.
Lopez then scored a 1st round knockout over Jongjong Gagante on October 25 before winding up the year with a 2nd round TKO over Nelson Sungahid.
Promoter Gabriel “Bebot” Elorde who recently flew to Seoul , South Korea to finalize the details of the title showdown said he expects a good fight although he conceded it would be a good test for Lopez.
Viva Sports will telecast the fights on the top-rated weekly boxing show “The Main Event” at 1:00 p.m. on Saturdays over CS/9 right after Solar Sports “Live” coverage of the NBA games. The Main Event is sponsored by Tanduay, the No.1 Rhum and PAGCOR, the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation.
