Xcaret Mexico - Ex Light flyweight Champion Eric Ortiz used greater ring craft and skills against solid punching Gilberto Keb in a six round flyweight masterclass which sometimes threatened to develop into a real scrap. And it ended as a draw.
Eric opened up to body and head in round two, but was felled by a low blow. Keb who was deducted a point for a low blow in the fourth, got stronger as the bout progressed and by the end of that round he had Eric reeling on the ropes. Trainer Rudy Perez coped well with a cut to the side of Eric's eye, which happened as early as round two, but didn't trouble him. Eric was vunerable to left hook counters, and the draw was a fair reflection of his skills which were matched by Keb's strength.
Hard hitting Chetumal featherweight Sergio "Yeyo" Thompson poleaxed willowy Miguel Tiquet in just forty nine seconds of round one with a huge right to the midriff. The fight was for the Hispanic title.
Thomo just ignored Tiquet's flitting punches and came close to nailing him with a long right hook, before felling him for ten seconds, and five minutes more.
Ex WBC Featherweight champion Rudy Lopez drilled rugged Pablo "Torito" Polanco with a neat precise left hook to the side of the face in one minute and twenty-six of round two of his comeback fight after defeating cancer.
Rudy who looked fleshy around the midriff at super lightweight, showed his class by catching Polonco with long range left and right hooks before closing the range, and concluding business with a game but outgunned and outclassed opponent.
Jose Emilio Perea retained his Fecarbox lightweight title in Xcaret, with a crushing second round KO of Juan Pablo Sanchez. A huge right hand felled Sanchez midway through the second stanza and he did well to get up, albeit it on disobedient legs. Perea trapped him and put him down again with a heavy volley of unanswered punches. The referee stopped the one sided blitz at one minute and forty seven seconds.
