Silvester Lopez will arrive in South Africa only three days before his fight against Thabo Sonjica.
The Filipino had missed a connecting flight in Hong Kong, promoter Mzimasi Mnguni said on Tuesday.
Lopez is due to fight Sonjica for the vacant IBO junior featherweight title in East London on Saturday night.
Live television coverage of the tournament at the Orient Theatre will be broadcast on SuperSport 4, starting at 8pm (SA, CAT, GMT+2).
The 25-year-old Lopez was expected to arrive in South Africa on Wednesday. “We have been informed by his camp that he arrived late in Hong Kong after his flight was delayed in the Philippines," Mnguni said.
The bout will be Sonjica's first for a “world” title.
