Devid Lookmahanak (18-2, 9KOs), who came within a hair of beating Jorge Arce in May, will face undefeated African fighter, Evans Mbamba (15-0, 7KOs), in a WBC junior bantamweight eliminator.

The tough fighter from Thailand gave Arce all he could handle for twelve-rounds in Mexico, losing by way of majority decision with scores of 115-114, 115-113 and 114-114. That fight was also an eliminator and Arce put himself in position to rematch champion Cristian Mijares. Lookmahanak gets another chance at redemption with Mbamba.

Mbamba’s promoter Branco Milenkovic received a letter from the WBC which gave him a deadline of September 12 to strike a deal with Lookmahanak’s camp or the fight will head to a purse bid.

“This is great news for Mbamba to make good on his potential,” Milenkovic told The Daily Dispatch.  “Lookmahanak is such a dangerous opponent for Mbamba, but I would not count out my boy’s chances of winning.”
