Egis Klimas, the manager of two-time Olympic gold medal winner Vasyl Lomachenko (1-0, 1KO), says a potential fight with Guillermo Rigondeaux (13-0, 8KOs), also a two-time Olympic gold medal winner, is very premature to discuss.
On March 1, Lomachenko will attempt to capture a world title in only his second pro bout, when he faces dangerous WBO featherweight champion Orlando Salido.
Ridgondeaux is the WBA/WBO champion at 122-pounds, while Lomachenko is fighting at 126 and says a potential fight with Cuban will have to take place at the featherweight limit.
The anticipation is already starting to build, for a showdown between two fighters who many consider to be the greatest amateur boxers of their time.
"I know that right now there is a lot of talk about the possibility of such a fight, but at this moment those talks [are premature]. At the moment we have only one goal - to beat Salido and win a world title. We are not thinking about anything else. Rigondeaux great fighter and creates problems for his opponents. He fights effectively, but he is not spectacular and the people watching do not like this," Klimas said.
