New York - Vasyl Lomachenko (11-1, 9 KO’s) is a special fighter. Aside from being one of the greatest amateur boxers in history, he won his world title in his third professional fight. He followed up that feat by becoming a three division world champion in only 12 professional fights. He wants to be special and is on the path of doing so.

“I don’t want to be just any fighter,” Lomachenko told BoxingScene.com “I want to put my name in history, I want to put my name in the history books. Boxing will remember me in history. I want to be a superstar, it’s not my main goal to be a superstar, and my main goal is to win inside the ring.”

And that he has done since his only defeat in his second pro fight to Orlando Salido (44-14-4, 31 KO’s). Since then he has defeated everyone in front of him. Next up is a unification bout with Puerto Rico’s Jose Pedraza (25-1, 12 KO’s) this Saturday on ESPN. After that, Lomachenko says there is no ceiling for him in the sport.

“I don’t like the word ceiling,” explained Lomachenko. "It’s just for regular people and people who scared to jump higher then where people tell them to me. You need be smart and if you do something unusual, you have to be smart and make a strategy.”

The fighter out of Ukraine says a move up in weight may come but for now, he is comfortable where he is.

“It depends on my feeling. It depends on my body. If I stay the same size, I can’t move up. I feel 135 is perfect for me. This weight is good,” stated Lomachenko.

Last time Lomachenko was in the ring, he won his WBA lightweight title by stopping Jorge Linares (45-4-, 28 KO’s). However in that fight, Lomachenko tasted the canvas. He says it was more of him making a mistake then Linares doing something special.

“I learned that I need to stay focused through the whole fight and concentrate,” explained Lomachenko. "It was my mistake. He’s a smart puncher but it was my mistake. I lose control but after a few rounds, I thought you know I won this fight. I forget about defense and that’s why it happened.”

As for as to what’s next?

“I’ll answer the question after December 8th, my fight.”
