Willie Limond claims he continues to learn from young and old as he gears up for his British lightweight title fight against Anthony Crolla at the Ravenscraig Sports Centre in Motherwell tomorrow night.
The 32-year-old challenger is trained by Peter Harrison, father of former WBO featherweight world champion Scott Harrison, and one of the most respected and experienced trainers in the sport.
However, Limond revealed he has taken additional tuition from boxing rookies as he looks to win the title which he believes can extend his career.
"There is no one better than Peter," said the Glaswegian. "So I will never stop learning. But there are things that you forget.
"I was watching two little boys spar a couple of weeks ago and I found myself saying, 'that was a good move there.' So I am still learning.
"My career is in its twilight now but it's down to me.
"If I could get this title, I have a few years left in me, definitely. I need the fights - and need to win them - and that will keep me going in the gym. I don't mind getting up early and running and training again at night. I enjoy doing that. So I need to win this fight."
After two months of hard slog ahead of today's weigh-in at the Ravenscraig venue, Limond is determined to leave the ring with the belt.
"It has been a gruelling eight weeks training," he said.
"On Friday I have to put in the effort and be at the top of my game and if I do that I see myself winning the fight.
"One thing, I will be leaving everything in the ring in my efforts."
