A few weeks ago they argued back and forth on Twitter, and now they might trade punches in the ring.
According to Jeff Powell of the Daily Mail, a deal has been reached in principle for Liam Smith to make the first defense of his WBO junior middleweight title against former three division world champion "Sugar" Shane Mosley.
If finalized, the fight would the co-featured bout to Andy Lee's defense of the WBO middleweight title against Billy Joe Saunders in Manchester.
Smith (21-0-1, 11KOs) captured the vacant title with a stoppage win over John Thompson on October 11th in Manchester. Demetrius Andrade had been stripped of the belt for inactivity.
Not long after the victory, Smith and Mosley began taking shots at each other on Twitter. Smith told BoxingScene.com's Declan Taylor that Mosley started making cracks on him and he was more than willing to face the veteran in the ring.
Mosley (48-9-1, 40KOs), 44-years-old, was last seen in the ring in August, where he snapped a near two-year layoff and knocked out Ricardo Mayorga in the sixth round of their rematch.
