High-flying super lightweight Liam Paro will defend his WBO and IBF titles on March 5 against fellow high flying Australian Terry Tzouramanis in a fight that will see Australia’s number 1 and 2 super lightweights clash with the winner likely moving on to a world title fight.

Paro, who is guided by the ACE Boxing Group, sits high in the world ratings, with a world title shot likely in 2021. Paro, however, must be on form on March 5 to see secure that title fight, and the Queensland-based Paro discussed his upcoming contest.

Paro said, “I want to thank the team at ACE Boxing for getting me this fight in such a difficult climate. It’s not easy being a boxer right now, but my team has fully supported me through everything and I’m very grateful for that.

“I’m delighted to have a fight date locked in. You always push yourself more when you have a fight date and I am in a really good fight for Australian fight fans. Terry Tzouramanis is flying high right now but I know I’m going to put on a world-class performance and show why I am ready to fight for the world title.

“Many people fell off during the lockdown, I did not. The ACE Boxing Group have not fell off either and the whole team have used this time to grow and improve. My own improvements will show on March 5 in Brisbane.”

Paro is trained by Alfie Di Carlo, who himself is one of Australia’s busiest boxing men. Di Carlo gave his take on Paro and his March 5 clash.

Di Carlo said, “Liam is a full time athlete and he behaves like a full time athlete. He works very hard in the gym and is always improving so I’m very excited to get him ready for this fight on March 5.

“I think Paro has a world title fight in him in 2021 and I’m confident he can be world champion. We lead busy lives but we work hard, and I’m fully expecting Liam to put on a world class performance in Brisbane that will make people take note of him on the world scene.”
