As debuts go, Liam Conroy’s fourth round dismantling of the usually stubborn Dan Brown at the back-end of June was as impressive as they come. The Barrow youngster displayed no hint of hesitance as he chipped away at his oft-durable opponent before halting proceedings with a brutal combination. Conroy’s performance earned widespread applaud from within the domestic boxing community and the likeable 19 year old is eager to add more impressive displays to his ledger.

“Everything went perfect for me on my debut and boxing as a professional was everything that I thought it’d be,” revealed the man they call “Terminator.” “The action was a little slower and you have to be a bit more patient with your attacks but once I got going the fight just got easier. My shots were getting through and I was hurting him whenever I landed so I thought the finish might come a little earlier. He done well to take my shots but the right hand I hurt him with was a great punch and I was over the moon when the referee waved it off.”

Despite not possessing the amateur credentials that some of his sporting counterparts may boast, Conroy is the owner of a desire that he feels many fighters are not able to match. A student of boxing, the former Barrow ABC star spends his time away from the gym analysing every single aspect of the sport he loves trying to pinpoint different methods that may be beneficial to his long-term development. This dedication was clearly evident in Conroy’s maiden appearance and the North West prospect is confident that it will deliver him further success.

“Even though there’s people out there that might have won more than me as amateurs, I’ll be very surprised if any of them people are willing to train as hard as I do. The stuff that I’m doing in the gym with my trainers is the hardest thing I’ve ever done but I know it’s what needs to be done if I’m to achieve what I want in this game. I’ve got a good team behind me and they know me very well so I leave everything in their hands when it comes to taking fights but I also know that whatever fight is chosen for me, I’ll be more than ready to deal with whoever’s in front of me.”
