ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. -- Powerful promoter Sampson Lewkowicz spoke on the future plans on a number of his prospects, in Atlantic City to support his fighter Sergio Martinez.
According to Lewkowicz, power-punching Dominican featherweight Javier Forturna (16-0, 12 KOs) will fight twice more this year, on November 6 in his native Dominican Republic at the Hard Rock Cafe. He will fight one more time in 2011, on December 17 at the WBC Convention in Las Vegas. In 2012, Fortuna should be making his television debut.
"Definitely next year. No question," Lewkowicz said of Fortuna's network debut.
Lewkowicz would love to match Fortuna with Gary Russell Jr., saying "oh yeah, anytime," of the prospects of a match between the two undefeated fighters.
Another one of his fighters, junior middleweight John Jackson (11-0, 10 KOs), the son of renowned puncher Julian Jackson, will also be fighting on December 17 in Las Vegas.
Finally, Lewkowicz spoke glowingly of his Russian heavyweight prospect Magomed Abdusalamov (10-0, 10 KOs). The 30-year-old Abdusalamov, a Sergio Martinez stablemate, fought on the Sergio Martinez-Darren Barker undercard, stopping Kevin Burnett in the first round.
"He's going to be a world champion," Lewkowicz said. [Chris] Arreola should watch his ass."
