Lennox Lewis has released a statement to the Associated Press stating that he is not coming back to Boxing.
"I want to reiterate what I said when I retired in February 2004 that I was fortunate to leave the sport on my own terms and that I will be one of the few heavyweight champions in history to retire on top and stay retired," said Lewis.
There was a Boxing frenzy when a London tabloid printed quoted comments from Lennox Lewis that stated he was coming back to the ring. Every single news outlet in the world jumped on board and reported the Lewis comeback, Vitali heard the news and thought his dreams were answered.
Once Manny Steward, close friend and former trainer of Lewis said he knew nothing of a comeback, the comeback of Lewis looked very suspect.
Vitali Klitschko, who is preparing for a May title defense against Hasim Rahman was over joyed by the new of a Lewis return and stated to the press that he was ready, willing and able to fight Lewis in a rematch.
The Klitchko camp released an exclusive statement from Vitali Klitschko to BoxingScene regarding the recent statement of Lewis.
"It is very unfortunate that Lennox Lewis is not coming back to make good on his promise to give me a rematch. The fans deserve to see a rematch." said Vitali
