According to WBC super bantamweight champion Leo Santa Cruz (27-0-1, 15KOs), he is calling the bluff of WBO/WBA champion Guillermo Rigondeaux (14-0, 9KOs). The Cuban two-time Olympic gold medal winner challenged Santa Cruz to a unification and claims the Mexican fighter is scared to accept.
First, Santa Cruz is set to defend his title against Manuel Roman on September 13th as part of the Showtime Pay-Per-View undercard to the Floyd Mayweather vs. Marcos Maidana rematch from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
"Guillermo, he's the one who's been calling me out saying that I'm scared. I want to prove that I'm not scared. I know it's a hard fight for me, but we don't care. I want to give the fans what they want. I want to please them and if they're happy - I'm happy," Santa Cruz said.
