Four time world champion Leo Santa Cruz has confirmed his interest in a showdown with the two-division world champion Gervonta Davis.

Santa Cruz is willing to take this fight on a date in May, June or July, as long as Davis confirms that he is willing to get in the ring with him for a high caliber event.

Santa Cruz, also known as 'El Famoso Terremoto' and 31 years old, has a professional mark of 37-1-1 and 19 knockouts. He recently captured the super featherweight title of the World Boxing Association in a clash against fellow Mexican Miguel Flores.

The victory over Flores allowed Santa Cruz to become to become only the fifth Mexican boxer to conquer world titles in four divisions, with the other boxers being Saúl 'Canelo' Álvarez, Jorge 'Travieso' Arce, Juan Manuel 'Dinamita' Márquez and Érik 'Terrible' Morales.

Gervonta, who this year has been plagued with issues outside of the ring, is returning from a twelfth round knockout of former world champion Yuriorkis Gamboa, whom he sent to the canvas three times to capture the "regular" lightweight title of the World Boxing Association.

Davis, 25 years old, has a record of 23-0 and 22 knockouts.

"That's my interest, let's see if he can be available, but that's the fight I want.... probably in May, June or July. I'm about to start my training," Santa Cruz told ESPN Deportes.

Regarding the issue of weight, that has not yet been decided, although Santa Cruz said he would be willing to go up to 135 pounds if necessary, even though he just barely made his debut at 130 pounds. Davis is unlikely to drop down in weight, as he struggled to make 135 for the contest with Gamboa.

There has been chatter of Santa Cruz getting the home advantage in the bout, with the event taking place at Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.
