While a middleweight slugfest between former IBF beltholder David Lemieux and top rated Curtis Stevens had been reported as being a done deal last week. It turned out not to be the case. But there is definitely interest in making that fight.

"That's a fight we can get done and it's just a matter of working out some details," said Eric Gomez, the Sr. VP of Golden Boy Promotions, which has a piece of Lemieux. "Curtis and Main Events are interested and we're interested in doing the fight and we want to try and get that done."

As for where it might take place, Gomez stated,"There's a possibility of Canada. We just have to finalize a few details.

And according to Gomez, HBO likes this pairing,"they're interested in it assuming we can finalize the details. We'll go from there".

Eye of the Tiger Management, who co-promote Lemieux with Golden Boy, recently informed the Canadian press that their fighter would be facing Stevens on October 22 in Montreal fight. Those details have obviously not been wrapped up.

The two fighters were both showcased during the month of May, as part of the HBO Pay-Per-View undercard to Canelo Alvarez vs. Amir Khan from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Stevens (28-5, 21 KO) blew away previously undefeated Patrick Teixeira in two rounds, while Lemieux (35-3, 32 KOs) dominated and stopped Glen Tapia in four rounds.
