IBF World Featherweight Champion Lee Selby returns to London on December 9th in a co-feature with James DeGale, ahead of a huge showdown with Josh Warrington next year.
Speaking after Monday’s press conference, the Welshman spoke about boxing on the action-packed card: “I’m very excited. One of the biggest shows we’ve seen in Britain in a long time.
“We’ve got, what I believe, the two best boxers pound-for-pound [DeGale and Selby] in the UK headlining and the two best prospects in the country [Daniel Dubois and Anthony Yarde], big punchers, exciting. This show’s got everything,” he said to iFL TV.
Carl Frampton and Warrington fight under the Frank Warren banner, and the 30-year-old is excited to finally get the big fights he’s been craving.
“If any of these big fights don’t happen it won’t be on my behalf. I’m ready to take on all-comers, that’s all I want to be involved in is big fights from now on!”
Leeds native Warrington stopped Dennis Ceylan on October 21st to set up a World Title challenge against Selby. When asked for his thoughts on that performance, the Champion gave a frank assessment.
“I wasn’t impressed. I was impressed with how terrible Dennis Ceylan was. Warrington’s a good fighter, not brilliant, but good. He does everything well. Styles make fights and my style wins 10 out of 10 times.
“Now [Warrington’s] got his chance, let’s see what he’s made of! I’ll take care of business early next year,” Selby confidently predicted.
Tickets are out now for Lee Selby’s World Title defence, with James Degale, Daniel Dubois and Anthony Yarde also on the card, live on BoxNation.
