Recently IBF featherweight champion Lee Selby (21-1/6 KO's) was in the Los Angeles area where he took in the bout between Leo Santa Cruz and Abner Mares on August 29th at the Staples Center, which was won by Leo Santa Cruz. Selby, who like the above mentioned pair is advised by Al Haymon, he believes he will eventually face both of them.

"I think so, yeah," he said recently at the Rock in Carson, California, after his days workout which included going six brisk rounds with highly touted prospect, Oscar Valdez." (Haymon) advises both fighters so the fights easy to make."

When asked to give his thoughts on the Santa Cruz-Mares scrap, Selby told BoxingScene.com,"I thought it was a very good fight, it was really competitive, their styles jelled well. It was more of a pride thing involved so they went straight at it."

Selby, who flew back to the U.K. later that day, has a fight scheduled with Fernando Montiel on October 14th. If he gets past that, he believes he will get Santa Cruz sooner, rather than later.

"Well, that's what I'm hoping for, that's the plan. I came out especially to watch the fight between Mares and Santa Cruz and I fancy my chances against both of them,"he said.
