Lee Markham retained his belt by the skin of his teeth.

The Romford middleweight kept hold of his English title at the Brentwood Centre, exclusively live on BoxNation, in front of a capacity crowd.

Markham, who moves on to 17-3-1 (7 KOs), outpointed Andrew Robinson as part of the supporting cast to Bradley Skeete’s first defence of the British welterweight crown against John Thain.

It was a close run affair, a very close one at that, with this writer not sure who would get the verdict at the end.

But after 10 rounds, and a few in which either man looked like they could have been down and out, the scorecards were turned in with margins of 98-93, 96-95 and 97-95 in favour of Markham.

Robinson slips to 18-3 (6 KOs) in defeat, but the logical –– and perhaps natural –– next step for both men would be a rematch after such an enthralling showdown.

Earlier in the card, Sanjeev Sahota rolls on after a points win over Gyula Tallosi, winning on the referee’s scorecard by a solitary point as it was announced with a margin of 39 points to 38.

He is now expected to feature on the undercard of Vijender Singh’s first WBO Asia Pacific super-middleweight title defence against Francis Cheka in New Delhi, India on December 17.

And Anthony Yarde, fresh off a one-round demolition on his American debut in Texas back in September, continued in a similar vein as he iced the vastly overmatched Ferenc Albert of Hungary inside the same distance.

The fight lasted all of 96 seconds and with the victory Yarde advances to 9-0 with eight early while Albert is now 22-11 (10 KOs).
