Undefeated middleweight prospect Andy Lee is hoping that his nearly completed promotional deal with Top Rank will lead him to an eventual shot at WBC/WBO middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik, who is also under the Top Rank banner. Speaking with the Irish Voice, Lee feels the Top Rank deal will clear a lot of obstacles for a fight with Pavlik.

“It clears a lot of obstacles out of the way if both fighters are under the same promoter. It makes things easier. Hopefully if he remains champion and if I get into the position (to challenge) then it should be an easy fight to make,” said Lee.

“Talks are going well. There are so many people involved. It is more that just myself and Emanuel (Steward) and them, it is also lawyers and advisers. You can only make a deal once, so you have to make sure it is 100% right to get the full benefit from it. It could take a little time but talks are going well.”

Lee has already committed to a few fight dates that he promises to honor, but hopes to land some more exposure in the United States through the Top Rank deal.

“I already have agreed to have some fights in Ireland with Brian Peters, and I am going to honor that agreement with him. But America is the place where the big fights are, and I want to move on with my career and have the chance to have bigger fights and hopefully to win titles,” Lee said. “This is the essential move really. It is the big step forward in securing those big fights that I want.”
