A couple weeks ago in an article by BoxingScene.com's Alexey Sukachev, it was written that WBA cruiserweight mandatory challenger Youry Kayembre Kalenga's (21-1) team had written a petition to the WBA to immediately face champion Denis Lebedev (26-2) who was originally scheduled to fight Lukasz Janik on April 4th in Moscow, Russia.
The article also states that Kalenga's team doesn't want to fight in Russia and would rather the fight take place in the U.S.
For the past two weeks Lebedev continued to train as his team tried to resolve the issues.
BoxingScene.com reached out to Lebedev's manager Vadim Kornilov to get an update on the situation.
"I am waiting for an update from Mr. (Andrey) Ryabinskiy and his promotional team World of Boxing for when the fight will occur and against who.
"Our team is ready to fight Kalenga anytime but for now I have pulled Lebedev out of training camp and out of sparring until everything is figured out further," said Kornilov who also manages fighters such as Ruslan Provodnikov and Viktor Postol.
When asked for a timeframe of when he hopes to have this resolved, Kornilov told BoxingScene.com, "We are hoping by the end of this week everything will be worked out between our promoter and the promoter of the other side."
