The Championships Committee of the World Boxing Association (WBA) has approved a request to postpone the purse bid for the rematch between Russia's Denis Lebedev, who is the absolute world champion at cruiserweight, and Panamanian challenger Guillermo "Felino" Jones, the champion in recess at 200 pound.
Both sides said they were working in good faith and close to an agreement, and only need more time to set a specific date for the championship bout.
The purse bid will now take place on Monday, January 27th, at 11 am, at the offices of the World Boxing Association, located at Marbella, Panama.
Lebedev (25-2, 19 KOs) was stopped by Jones (39-3-2, 31 KOs) in eleven rounds back on May 17th in Myakinino, Russia. But then Jones tested positive for banned substance furosemide. The Panamanian was suspended for six months and the title was returned back to Lebedev. A rematch was then ordered by the WBA.
