Russian promoter Vladimir Hryunov is planning to make a request to the World Boxing Association to postpone the purse bid for the mandatory fight between WBA cruiserweight champion Denis Lebedev (25-2, 19KOs) and mandatory challenger Guillermo Jones (39-3-2, 31KOs). Lebdev took a severe beating at the hands of Jones in May, and was knocked out in the eleventh round. After the match, Jones tested positive for a banned substance and the title was returned to Lebedev. The WBA then ordered a rematch.
The purse bid date is January 6th. Hryunov is going to request a date of January 26th, and Jones' promoter Don King has no objections to the new date.
