A pair of title eliminators will highlight the November 7 edition of Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) on NBC Sports Network, which will air live from Miccosukee Resort and Gaming in Miami, Florida.
Headlining the telecast, unbeaten welterweight Fredrick Lawson heads to South Florida for the second straight time as he faces Canada's Kevin Bizier in a sanctioned title eliminator. In the televised co-feature, Walter Castillo looks to fight his way back into contention as he takes on Japan's Keita Obara in a super lightweight elimination contest.
Lawson (24-0, 20KOs) appears stateside for his fourth consecutive fight. The 26-year old had previously fought exclusively in Ghana before relocating to Chicago. Three of his past four fights have gone the distance, including back-to-back televised fights on ESPN2 in scoring wins over Ray Narh last October and most recently versus Bredis Prescott this past March.
Bizier (24-2, 16KOs) fights outside of Canada for the first time in his career, though the 31-year old is hoping a change in scenery will also change his luck at the top level. Once a highly touted unbeaten prospect, the Montreal native came up short in a pair of 12-round bouts with Jo Jo Dan, who went on to challenge for Kell Brook's version of the welterweight title.
The winner of the November 7 clash will be in line for a title shot, but will first have to win a final eliminator in order to be named mandatory challenger.
The same applies for the super lightweight clash between Castillo and Obara.
Castillo (26-3, 19KOs) rebounded from a tough points loss to the excellent Amir Imam earlier this year with a 3rd round knockout of former lightweight contender Ammeth Diaz this past July in Tampa. The aggressive boxer from Nicaragua will fight for the fourth consecutive time in the United States, including his second straight start in Florida.
Obara (15-1, 14KOs) has won every bout since dropping his pro debut in 2010. Working against the rangy puncher from Tokyo - who turns 29 a week after the fight - is a thin resume and also the fact that he's fighting outside of Japan for the first time in his career.
Tickets for the event are due to go on sale Wednesday, October 14. The telecast marks the fourth show in a span of five weeks from Oct. 10 through Nov. 7 that will be carried by NBC or an affiliate network - three on NBC Sports Network and this upcoming weekend's special Saturday afternoon edition of PBC on NBC from Fairfax, VA.
