Lara vs. Smith - CompuBox Historical Review

Erislandy Lara is a defensive wizard. Opponents (Alvarez, Angulo, Trout, Martirosyan, F. Hernandez) landed just 20% of their total punches- #3 defensively behind only Rigondeaux (16%) and Mayweather (19%). Lara has a +17 plus/minus rating (Lara lands 37%-opponents land 20%)- second only to Mayweather's +25 rating. Ishe Smith landed 45% of his power shots vs. Bundrage, Garcia, Guerrero, Davis & Molina. Lara, who landed 52% of his power shots, is at another level defensively.
