Junior middleweight Erislandy Lara reached out to BoxingScene.com to fire back at IBF champion Cornelius "K9" Bundrage. In earlier article on BoxingScene, Bundrage was very critical of Lara's performance from last Friday. The Cuban boxer fought rugged Carlos Molina to a ten round majority draw at the Cosmopolitan Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
"Lara really needs to re-evaluate himself again. I hope he doesn't come up with any excuses and he is just honest and says Carlos Molina was the better man that day and go back in the gym. Don't call me out because he don't really want it. Can you imagine if Lara had been in that fight with me instead? From seeing that fight, picture him and me in that fight. The outcome would have been terrible for him. He would have been knocked out," said Bundrage to BoxingScene.
Lara is ready to put his money where his mouth is. He wants Bundrage to sign a contract for a potential fight on June 25, the target date for Lara's return.
"You're a pretender. I already beat the best contender in Grady Brewer. If you want me to, I'll turn you into a poodle. Sign the contract for June 25 and show the world how you really feel about me. He'll never forget what a Cuban ass whooping feels like. He beat an over the hill champion [Cory Spinks] who had a DUI in the same year and you still haven't defended that title. Here's your chance K9," Lara said to BoxingScene.
